BROOKLYN, NY — August 6, 2026 — Organizers of the inaugural Jamaica Rising Day Parade have announced an important update to Saturday’s historic celebration following an overwhelming public response that has exceeded all expectations. With thousands of participants and spectators now expected to attend, city officials and public safety agencies have recommended an adjustment to the parade route to ensure the event is conducted safely and efficiently.

The unprecedented excitement surrounding the first-ever Jamaica Rising Day Parade has generated tremendous enthusiasm across New York and beyond, with organizers describing the response as nothing short of extraordinary.

“The response has been absolutely incredible. The first-ever Jamaica Rising Day Parade has grown beyond what anyone imagined,” organizers said.

Dr. Bill Tinglin, Chairman of the Founding Committee, said the level of excitement reflects the significance of the moment. “This movement has gone viral, and we’re on track to make history with one of the biggest first-year Caribbean parades New York has ever seen,” said Dr. Tinglin.

With safety remaining the highest priority, organizers have worked closely with city officials and public safety agencies to implement recommendations designed to accommodate the anticipated historic crowd while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

“The parade will now begin at Church Avenue and Ocean Avenue, proceed north along Ocean Avenue, and conclude at Lincoln Place near Empire Boulevard,” announced Dr. Lawman Lynch, Vice Chairman of the Founding Committee.

The parade will still begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Organizers also announced that the previously planned post-parade block party has been cancelled. Instead, entertainment and celebratory activities will take place along the parade route, allowing attendees to enjoy the festivities throughout the event while better managing the anticipated record-breaking attendance.

“This decision was made based on recommendations from public safety officials so we can ensure the proper logistics, security, and infrastructure are in place for what promises to be an historic celebration and to position the event for even greater success in the years ahead,” organizers stated.

The Jamaica Rising Day Parade is a celebration of Jamaican culture, heritage, unity, and the enduring contributions of Jamaicans to New York and around the world. Organizers are encouraging Jamaicans, friends of Jamaica, and everyone who has ever been touched by the island’s vibrant culture to come out and make history.

“Bring your Jamaican flags. Bring your good vibes. Bring your family. Bring the kids. Bring your friends,” said Dr. Lawman Lynch, Vice Chairman of the Founding Committee & Event Director. “If you love Jamaica, if you’re Jamaican by birth, Jamaican by heritage, or simply Jamaican by association, this celebration is for you.”

This Saturday, Brooklyn will come alive as the streets are transformed into a vibrant showcase of Jamaican culture, music, unity, and Caribbean pride. Organizers are encouraging everyone to mark their calendars, wear their Jamaican colors, and be part of what promises to be a landmark moment in New York’s Caribbean history.
